After School Enrichment Classes

Sierra  Elementary School is pleased to provide your children After School Enrichment Classes!

After school enrichment activities strengthen student’s self-esteem by exposing them to experiences and activities beyond the regular curriculum. Children who are in after school programs over their lifetime consistently have improved test scores in school and better than average social skills.


There are classes available in Fall, Winter and Spring. Please click links below to see what is now available for your child. Please contact Kim Kahn at 530-622-6244 extension 6614 for more information.


Spring Session registration begins Tuesday, February 11 and ends February 28. Spaces are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Early registration is recommended. Registration forms are located in the school office, or you can print forms from this site.

Registration is not complete and counted until all forms/payments are turned in.

ACTIVE AND AWESOME!

Grades 1-5

Students will join Mrs. Murrow for a fun, physical hour of movement in this brand new after school enrichment class! Having the opportunity to experience movement to music in a non-judgmental group setting is a joyful way for children to stimulate imagination, promote self-expression and develop social skills all at the same time.

When: Class begins Thursday, March 19 from 3:00-4:00 p.m.

How Long: Class is every Thursday for six weeks. Dates are: 3/19, 3/26, 4/2, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30

CREATIVE EMBROIDERY

GRADES 3-5

Using imagination, fabric crayons and an embroidery hoop, your child will sew with a needle and colorful threads to create a masterpiece to decorate your home! This new after school enrichment class will teach students discipline, patience, and a sense of pride in finishing an embroidery project that will be enjoyed for years to come.

When: Class begins Tuesday, March 17 from 3:00-4:00pm

How Long: Class is every Tuesday for six weeks. Dates are: 3/17, 3/24, 3/31, 4/14, 4/21, 4/28

Where: Room 16

HANGTOWN SABER FENCING

Grades 3-5

In this popular after-school enrichment class, Hangtown Saber Club Instructors will teach your children the basics of the lifetime sport of saber fencing with an emphasis on using brains over brawn. It is one of the safest sports around, and the best fencers aren’t necessarily the biggest or strongest! While providing a great workout, the class emphasizes respect for opponents and coaches, self-control, and focus.

When: Class begins Thursday, March 19 from 3:00-4:00 p.m.

How Long: Class is every Thursday for six weeks. Dates are: 3/19, 3/26, 4/2, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30

YOGARIFFIC!

Grades K-5

This popular after school enrichment class will introduce kids to yoga through movement, mindfulness, fun and games. Yoga poses and breathing exercises will help children to disconnect from distractions and connect with themselves – while increasing confidence and a healthy self-image.

When: Class begins Tuesday, March 17 from 3:00-4:00pm

How Long: Class is every Tuesday for six weeks. Dates are: 3/17, 3/24, 3/31, 4/14, 4/21, 4/28

PLEASE NOTE!

-Completed form and payment are necessary for your child to be registered!

-Pick up and sign out child from After School Enrichment classroom promptly at end of class. If your child attends Extended Day, they must go directly there after class.

- No other transportation option is available.

--On the first day of class, your child will be directed to the After School Enrichment classroom after school has ended so they know where to go.

-The instructor has the right to dismiss any student from the entire session if the participant does not adhere to behavior guidelines.
