Markham Named Honor Roll School
Edwin Markham Middle School has been named an Honor Roll school for the 2015 California Honor roll, presented by Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE). the 2015 Honor Roll is part of a national effort to identify higher-performing schools and highlight successful practices that improve outcomes for students. Markham received this distinction for demonstrating consistently high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement over time and reduction in achievement gaps.
Measure B Passes!
With the passage of Measure B last November, we will be able to increase the amount of technology available to our students. Our goal is to have one device for every student, while improving the infrastructure needed to support the increase in technology use. Currently all our English classes have Chromebooks for student use, as does the science department and 6th grade math. By next fall we plan to have Chromebooks available in all core classes. As a district we recognize that in order to close the achievement gap we need to close the technology gap. We want to ensure that our students have the tools and knowledge necessary to be prepared for their future. We are so fortunate that our community is supportive of these efforts.
I hope you find our website useful, full of resources that can help you navigate with your child through the middle school years.
Working together, we will make this a great year. Our staff works hard to provide a consistent, supportive and nurturing learning environment for our students. There are a lot of ways for students to become involved, from participating in monthly spirit days, joining an after school club, to being on one of our many sports teams. And there are lots of ways for our families to be involved as well. Our enthusiastic Parent Club meets monthly, planning events to get our community on campus. You are encouraged to help out your child’s teacher in the classroom or volunteer to chaperone a dance or event—You are welcome anytime!
We have a lot of learning and fun planned for this year—it’s going to be panther-iffic!
