Veteran's Day Camp

Happy Tuesday, Everyone, On Friday, October 29th evening, we had a fantastic Trunk or Treat event. Many children with their parents attended the event. Our children and parents wore amazing costumes. It was a fun moment for everyone. I want to thank Schnell PTC and Parent Volunteers for making this event happen. Thank you so much!!! Have a Wonderful Day!!! John Baker, Principal

Good Morning Schnell Families, This Friday, November 29th, is school spirit day. Students can wear black and orange as it represents Halloween colors. Students cannot wear Halloween costumes during school hours on Friday. However, they can wear their costume during the Trunk or Treat starting at 4:30 pm on Friday of this week. Dear Schnell Families, We have an amazing parent support training coming up in November called "Transforming the Intense Child or Teen". If you are able, please join this training which focuses on children struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, and self-control issues. November 13th from 1pm to 4 pm. Free of charge. Dear Schnell Families, I hope you are having a fabulous day with the rain. As indicated on our website, Our October Trunk or Treat will be on Friday, October 29, starting from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. It is an event where parent and community volunteers will be passing out candies from the trunk of their vehicle decorated for Halloween. We are going to have fun music for the children run by Mr. Tillisch, the 4th-grade teacher. We will be selling pizza and drinks as well. If you desire to volunteer to pass out candies from your decorated vehicle, please call 530 622 6244 extensions 6694 by Thursday, October 28. If you do volunteer, we ask that you furnish your candies. All parent volunteers can arrive as early as 2:30 pm to set up on the playground blacktop. At the end of the event, all additional sweets can be donated to the men and women serving in the military. Also, if you desire to donate candies for this event to help parent volunteers, please bring them to the main office. We very much look forward to seeing you at this event!!! Dear Schnell Families, We are entering the month of September with the hope of cooler weather. Indeed, this year is already going by quickly, and we are four months away from 2022. Our young Bobcats students are slowly getting into the rhythm of being at school and knowing what is expected. They are learning the culture of Schnell Elementary School, and they strive to be successful students at school. I recently walked into a dual immersion language classroom, and I was amazed at how quickly they learn Spanish. Our teachers are giving young minds an invaluable and phenomenal education to prepare them for college as we are an AVID school. We have an amazing staff at Schnell who are fully dedicated to the success of each child. Enjoy your three-day weekend!!! And we will see you on Tuesday of next week. John Baker, Principal

Dear Schnell Families and Guardians, We made it through our third week of school already. Next week, we are entering the month of September with the strong hope of some rain. This week, we had morning STRETCH on Monday morning. More specifically, it is a moment where our students are doing a morning physical activity in the classroom to awake their mind and body for the day. The virtue of "Respect" was also shared with the students. We are also teaching our children to be kind, loving, and caring, which is essential for the Schnell school culture. As indicated in my last communication, the staff strongly believes in nurturing the whole child. Teaching some important virtues will help the child be more successful in life. It was indeed a smoky week as the Caldor Fire is not ceasing. Early in the morning, the gray smoke makes its way down to Placerville, and with the force of the west wind, the smoke makes its way up to the east in the early afternoon. Due to the smoke, it was necessary to have many indoor recesses. If the air quality was safe, then we sent our students to play outside on the playground. Indoor recess involves students playing a board game, watching a cartoon, and playing with classroom toys. Hopefully, the smoke will be diminished so that once more we can be outside during recess time. Enjoy your weekend everyone!!! And Stay Safe. Your Principal, John Baker

Dear Schnell Families and Guardians, We had a great week at school. Even with the smoke and Pollock Pines' evacuation, many of our students came to school. We carefully monitor the air quality to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We had our students doing PE and recess indoors. I hope the air quality will improve so that our students can go outside and play during recess time. Next week, on Monday morning, we are starting the week teaching our students the virtue of "Respect". We, teachers and staff, believe in order to nurture the whole child, it is necessary to teach them some life virtues such as respect, care, courage, and many more. Power is back on at all school sites. School will be in session tomorrow Thursday October 31st.

It has be decided that school for students will be held this Friday November 1st. The previously scheduled Staff Professional Development day has been rescheduled.

We have been informed that if power is turned back on tonight it will be turned back off tomorrow morning around 4:30 AM. With the knowledge all schools will be closed tomorrow Tuesday October 29th.
