ALL PUSD SCHOOLS CLOSED MARCH 1st DUE TO POWER OUTAGE Good Morning Placerville Families, As many of you know most of Placerville is without power with no estimation of when power will be restored. All schools in PUSD are without power at this time. Also many of the roads in the outlying areas are extremely icy and would be very difficult for our busses to run. With both of these issues we will have to close school today Wednesday March 1st. We apologize for this change in plans but are hoping to have power restored and roads in much better shape so that we can safely be open tomorrow. Have a nice day. Eric Bonniksen

Dear Schnell Families, First and foremost, Happy New Year!!! I hope you had a wonderful winter break with your families, pets, and friends. It surely has been an interesting week with the heavy rain and wind resulting in floods in our little town and power outages in multiple areas. At this time of year, we are indeed half way through the school calendar. We are currently piloting Amplify Science for the next several weeks to determine if it is a good fit for our students. As we will pilot other science curricula in early Spring, the ultimate goal is to select a new science curriculum for the 2023-2024 school year. A reminder that there is no school on Monday, January 16th, as it is Martin Luther King Holiday. Have a Wonderful Weekend!!! John Baker, Principal

Dear Schnell Families, The last day of school before our winter break is Wednesday, December 21st, 2022. Students will be dismissed at 12:45 pm as it is a minimum day. We return to school on Monday, January 9th, 2023. We recently had our monthly Bobcat Bazaar, led by our ALC Director Julia Abercrombie, which was a great success. Schnell students were able to redeem their earned Bobcat money for following school rules to purchase toys, fun notebooks, pencils, and much more. Schnell Student Council met early this week and decided to have a winter door decoration contest where the winner will be announced on Monday morning, December 19th, 2022. Have a Wonderful Week!!!! Stay dry and warm; more rain is coming up!!!! John Baker, Principal

Dear Schnell Families, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends. We are three weeks away from our Christmas break. I can't believe that we are quickly approaching 2023. This year went by quickly, and enjoying every moment of our daily life is essential. As a reminder, regarding attendance, children need to come to school daily and on time. When students are not frequently absent, their grades and reading skills improve, even among those struggling in school. Students who often attend school feel more connected to their community and develop strong social skills and friendships, which are essential life skills. Stay dry and warm as colder weather is here. Enjoy Your Week!!!! John Baker Principal

Dear Schnell Families, With the recent cold temperature, it feels that winter is approaching quicker than expected. I am glad we received some rain as it is highly needed for our county and to fill the reservoirs. Friday, November 11th, is Veteran's day, a federal holiday honoring military veterans of the United Armed Forces for their service. Next week will be minimum days where students will be dismissed at 12:45 pm from Tuesday November 15th to Friday November 18th, allowing parents to meet with their child's teacher in the afternoon. Our teachers spent countless hours doing report cards and preparing for parent-teacher conferences. On Friday, November 18th, we will do our yearly Turkey Trot tradition, a fun race for our 3rd to 5th graders running after the Principal, John Baker, and the 1st Grade Teacher, April Stallings, who wear a turkey costume. Enjoy Your Weekend, and We will See you On Monday!!!! John Baker, Principal
